An England Select side featuring Darren Anderton and Lee Hendrie beat Rangers Legends 3-2 in a star-studded friendly to raise money for Fernando Ricksen’s MND foundation.

Bobby full of praise for Andy Pilley

Fleetwood midfielder Bobby Grant hailed chairman Andy Pilley as he committed his future to the club until 2019.

Grant made the short trip along the Fylde coast from Blackpool to Town in 2015 and has not looked back since. The Seasiders have dropped into the fourth tier and Town are in the midst of a historic season and a potential promotion to the second tier for the first time.

Fleetwood will be ready for promotion

Town are exceeding Andy’s expectations as they prepare for the business end of the season battling at the right end of League One.

Uwe Rosler’s side are unbeaten in 17 league games and remain third after last night’s favourable results.

They are preparing for Saturday’s trip to Scunthorpe, who are still above them on goal difference only after last night’s 2-1 home defeat by Wimbledon, and Pilley will provide free coach travel for 50 Fleetwood High School students to encourage the next generation to join the Cod Army.

Happy New Year from the Chairman

Firstly, I’d like to wish all Fleetwood Town fans a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

As a club we end the year in fantastic condition on and off the field, something we should all be very proud of. While on-the-field the first half of 2016 wasn’t up to the standards we expect, off-the-field we made major steps forward with the completion of our £9m training complex at Poolfoot Farm Sports & Leisure Complex. The facility is something which will become a major part of our strategy going forward and hopefully will become my best ever investment at Fleetwood Town.

Ash Hunter is statistically better than Ronaldo

Cod Army hotshot Ash Hunter is statistically better than Real Madrid’s Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.

Andy said: “His goals per minute ratio is exceptional. I’d be very surprised if anyone in League One has a better ratio over the last 18 months.

“He is a player we have really high hopes for. He has clearly got something.”

Billy Crellin agrees three-year professional deal

Fleetwood Town are delighted to announce Billy Crellin has agreed a three-year professional contract with the club. The young goalkeeper has been rewarded for his superb form for the U18s with a long-term deal keeping him at Highbury until at least the summer of 2020.

On the news, Andy Pilley said: “We are delighted to have secured the services of Billy for three years, he’s a player we are all really excited by at the club.

“What’s just as exciting is that Billy is a Fleetwood lad and a Fleetwood Town supporter, I’m sure the fans will be delighted to see one of their own signing professional terms for the club.”

Vardy’s last hat-trick

The last time Jamie Vardy bagged a hat-trick was against Ebbsfleet in the Conference back in his Fleetwood days.

Andy remembers well that day in February 2012 — and recalls one of his treble was akin to David Beckham’s famous halfway line goal for Manchester United against Wimbledon.
