Joey Barton to be appointed new Head Coach

Fleetwood Town can confirm an agreement has been reached which will see Joey Barton named Head Coach on June 2nd.

The vastly experienced 35-year-old, who excelled during his top-flight playing career with the likes of Manchester City, Queens Park Rangers and most recently Burnley, will take charge of the club’s first team this summer after signing a three-year deal.

On the news, Barton said: “I’m very excited by the challenge and the project at Fleetwood Town.

“It’s a club I’ve known for a long time, and a chairman I already have a very good relationship with.

“My first job in management was always going to be a big decision for me and I’m delighted with the opportunity ahead, I’m joining a club with big ambitions. I’m looking forward to getting started on June 2nd.”

Andy added: “This is a huge appointment for Fleetwood Town Football Club and one I’m very excited about.

“Joey not only brings a host of experience and profile, but I also feel he has the potential to become one of the best in the new generation of coaches”

“He’s someone I’ve known for a number of years and I am convinced he’s ready to make the step into management, and that he will be a huge success.

“Joey will be able to build-on the fantastic work done by John Sheridan during the last couple of months, one he deserves huge credit for.

John joined us on a short term arrangement with the aim of keeping us in League One and I’m delighted he’s been able to do that.

“Today’s news signals a new chapter for Fleetwood Town which starts on June 2nd, and one which we are all excited about.”

Andy has spoken to Fleetwood Town’s media team following the recent news about the managerial changes at the club.

Major boost for Fylde Coast as BES Utilities creates 50 new jobs

Lancashire-based energy supplier BES Utilities is creating 50 new jobs.

The company, which turns over more than £100m per year, currently employs almost 200 staff at its Fleetwood headquarters.

As the business continues to expand in the hugely competitive non-domestic energy sector, BES founder and chairman Andy Pilley today announced the creation of 50 new roles.

The jobs – which cover all areas of the business from Customer Services, Operations, Human Resources to Business Support Services – will be based in Fleetwood.

A two-day recruitment event will now take place on May 2nd and 3rd for potential candidates to learn more about the roles which range from apprenticeships to management positions.

Andy said: “We have seen fantastic growth since we set the company up in 2005.

“The business continues to go from strength-to-strength, so we are delighted to announce we are creating these 50 new roles here in Fleetwood.

“We want to find ambitious people who want to become a part of our future success, while offering them not just jobs, but real careers and life-changing opportunities.”

Andy’s BES Group, which include BES Utilities, merchant services company Card Saver, Fleetwood Town Football Club and the Poolfoot Farm Sports & Leisure Complex, employs more than 600 people from across the Fylde coast.

Andy added: “We are proud to be a Fleetwood-based business and one of the biggest employers on the Fylde coast.

“The recruitment event is a great way to showcase our business and the career paths available to local people. We want to see as many people as possible, with varying skill sets. These could be entry level apprentices or experienced and highly-skilled people looking for a fresh challenge.

“Over the years we have helped many people realise their untapped potential, develop their skills and open new opportunities, and that is what we are looking to do here again.”

The May 2nd and 3rd recruitment days will run into the evening to allow people the chance to attend outside of normal office hours.

Those who attend, will be able to find out more about BES, the roles on offer and how their skills could fit in the business or with other BES Group companies.

Town appoint new Head of Academy

Fleetwood Town have hired former Blackpool academy manager Ciaran Donnelly, just days after he guided the Tangerine youth team to the league title.

“He’s someone we’ve known for a long time following his brief spell here as a player and have more recently monitored the excellent job he’s done at Blackpool.

“Last season he managed the league and cup double with his U18s side and we believe we have appointed one of the top young prospects around to run our academy”

New age of atomic power

I was working in Manchester selling to small and medium sized enterprises when the Enron financial scandal hit our company. I had around 25 salesmen out in the filed with customers ready but suddenly nothing to sell. So I set up on my own here as I had had high level contact with suppliers.

“I ended up working from 6am to midnight, which obviously could not go on so I recruited my sister who is the operations expert and it grew from there.”

BES Group has grown into a company with a turnover in excess of £100m a year and more than 600 staff.

Bobby full of praise for Andy Pilley

Fleetwood midfielder Bobby Grant hailed chairman Andy Pilley as he committed his future to the club until 2019.

Grant made the short trip along the Fylde coast from Blackpool to Town in 2015 and has not looked back since. The Seasiders have dropped into the fourth tier and Town are in the midst of a historic season and a potential promotion to the second tier for the first time.

Fleetwood will be ready for promotion

Town are exceeding Andy’s expectations as they prepare for the business end of the season battling at the right end of League One.

Uwe Rosler’s side are unbeaten in 17 league games and remain third after last night’s favourable results.

They are preparing for Saturday’s trip to Scunthorpe, who are still above them on goal difference only after last night’s 2-1 home defeat by Wimbledon, and Pilley will provide free coach travel for 50 Fleetwood High School students to encourage the next generation to join the Cod Army.

Fleetwood Town now 15 unbeaten in League One

Happy New Year from the Chairman

Firstly, I’d like to wish all Fleetwood Town fans a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

As a club we end the year in fantastic condition on and off the field, something we should all be very proud of. While on-the-field the first half of 2016 wasn’t up to the standards we expect, off-the-field we made major steps forward with the completion of our £9m training complex at Poolfoot Farm Sports & Leisure Complex. The facility is something which will become a major part of our strategy going forward and hopefully will become my best ever investment at Fleetwood Town.

Ash Hunter is statistically better than Ronaldo

Cod Army hotshot Ash Hunter is statistically better than Real Madrid’s Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.

Andy said: “His goals per minute ratio is exceptional. I’d be very surprised if anyone in League One has a better ratio over the last 18 months.

“He is a player we have really high hopes for. He has clearly got something.”
